Nothing that is not there and the nothing that is

This work deals with perspective and memory. Small collections of notes are examined and reexamined from every angle as they slowly morph over time into new collections, eventually coalescing into larger gestures that evoke counterpoint. The title comes from a poem by Wallace Stevens which concludes: “In the sound of a few leaves, / Which is the sound of the land / Full of the same wind / That is blowing in the same bare place / For the listener, who listens in the snow, / And, nothing himself, beholds / Nothing that is not there and the nothing that is.”
